At Third Kind Games, we believe that taking care of our mental health is just as important as levelling up in our favourite video games. Though we do prioritise mental health throughout the year, we have May as our dedicated Mental Health Month, a month-long initiative to raise awareness and promote mental wellness within our team and studio.
In an industry where passion and creativity thrive, it's crucial to prioritise mental health and well-being. We've put together a varied programme of events for our team to support our mental health during May.
Educational Talks
Knowledge is power, especially when it comes to mental health and we've lined up a series of educational talks led by members of our team. Topics will range from the science of sleep to the importance of mental health role models and the power of mind over matter. By sharing insights, experiences, and practical tips, we aim to empower our team members to take control of their mental well-being and support one another along the way.
Yoga sessions
What better way to re-energise our minds and bodies than with a rejuvenating yoga session? We’re hosting yoga classes to help team members unwind, destress, and reconnect with their bodies to promote our well-being. From gentle stretches to more challenging poses, these sessions offer a mindful escape from the hustle and bustle of game development.
Our first session is focused on chair and standing stretches, which are so beneficial as we spend much of our time at our desks, providing relief from stiffness and stress that can be replicated at our desks. Our second class will bring easy meditation techniques to the team that can be done any time and any place, to relieve stress, tension and worry.
Rainbow Walks
Nature has a remarkable ability to soothe the soul and clear the mind. That's why we're encouraging our team to participate in "Rainbow Walks" before work. Inspired by the beauty of the outdoors, these morning strolls allow team members to enjoy the scenery, get some fresh air, and start the day on a positive note together.
Craft Evenings
Creativity knows no bounds, and neither does our commitment to mental health! Throughout May, we'll be hosting craft evenings where team members can unleash their creativity and express themselves through arts and crafts. These sessions provide a therapeutic outlet for self-expression and relaxation. At TKG, we're committed to fostering a culture of care and support. May Mental Health Month is just one of the many ways we're working to prioritise the mental wellness of our team. Together, we can break the stigma surrounding mental health and create a brighter, healthier future for all.
